How we work

What happens at each step, how the budget is arrived at and what working together looks like — in detail.

How we work

The biggest worry with custom software: an unclear budget and a project with no end. Our answer is these four steps.

1.0

Discovery

Short and paid. The output — a process map, a scope and a budget range — is yours. Even if you do not continue with us.

2.0

Prototype

A working first version. You see the screens with real data; we discuss scope by using it, not by reading a document.

3.0

Delivery in stages

Each stage is usable on its own. The project is not finished one day — it is in use from the first stage.

4.0

Operation

Servers, backup, updates, monitoring. It stays with us or moves to you — your call.

How the budget is set

Discovery is paid and starts at €300 excl. VAT. The reason: a number from a free call is a guess, a number from a paid discovery is a calculation. The difference shows up in the middle of the project.

What the first working version and the monthly operation cost depends on scope and is given as a written range in the discovery output. If we need to go outside that range, we talk about it before we do.

If we conclude that an off-the-shelf tool would do the job, we say so plainly at the end of discovery. Work we did not sell beats work sold wrongly.

How we work together

You get one point of contact, and that person is part of the team writing the software. Every layer in between is lost information.

We show progress on a running version, not in percentages. “70% done” is not measurable; a working screen is.

Let us start with a discovery.

Tell us, we will listen. Discovery is short and paid; at the end you hold the process map, scope and budget range. If we conclude that an off-the-shelf tool would do the job, we will say so just as plainly.
